The ESD Business Unit
The Saint-Gobain ESD business unit is part of the Saint-Gobain High-Performance Materials sector, operating under direction from Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramics. With CERASTAT® static dissipative ceramics, Saint-Gobain ESD pioneered the development of high performance static control materials for the manufacture of hard disk drive magnetic recording heads. With voltage threshold in the range of 1V, magnetic recording heads are the most ESD sensitive of microelectronic components.
Keeping pace with technology, our customer base has expanded and now includes the largest and most technically advanced manufacturers in the industry. Products are supplied to all market segments within the storage, the semiconductor and the electronics industries.
The CERASTAT® product is patented in the United States, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Patent applications are pending in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand.
